| IRS Section 179 Increases 2008 Tax Deduction |
| Take advantage of huge tax savings when you purchase practice management and EMR software. |
| |
Did you know that IRS Section 179 allows you to expense up to $250,000 in capital equipment or software placed in service this year? This means if your practice qualifies for this tax exemption, you can take advantage of the tax savings when you purchase maximEyes practice management and EMR software, IT equipment, and ophthalmic equipment before the end of the year.
For example, IT equipment, such as servers, computers, printers, routers, and fax machines qualify for the Section 179 deduction, along with other types of machinery, furniture, and some storage facilities. Certain leases and finance agreements may also qualify for this deduction.
Important: Before you make any software or equipment purchases, consult your accountant or tax professional for advice and deductibility of Section 179. |

| What is Your Data Worth to Your Business? |
Don’t wait for a disaster to happen. Backing up your data is critical to your success. |
| |
Backing up your data is the least expensive insurance policy you will ever have. Without data backup and storage, recovery is impossible. And without a recovery plan there is no guarantee that your patient data backup will make it through the recovery process.
Computer failures can happen for a number of reasons. |
User error is the number one reason for data damage, loss or corruption. |
Hard drives are mechanical devices, just like an automobile, and they will eventually fail. |

| Doctor Case Study |
| Technology, Education and Service are Keys to Success |
“The past five years have been revolutionary for our office, “said Dr. Loren Azevedo. “In 2004, we had five doctors with an annual AGS of $1.8 million. Because maximEyes software helped us improve efficiencies so much, we were still able to grow the business and reach $2.2 million a year, with only two doctors.” |

Disastrous and catastrophic events, such as a fire, flood, or any naturally occurring storm can be a nightmare. |
Failures can also happen through electrical outage, a virus, or the deliberate hacking of your data. |

When you make the decision to switch to an EMR system, First Insight, a leading provider of practice management and EMR software offers the following backup tips: |
| |
Consult with your certified hardware/networking technician about the backup data size you will need. Ask your technician how to arrange for backup/disaster recovery before you select your media. |
Arrange for offsite storage of your backup media files. |
Consider using a URAC HIPAA Security Business Associate online data backup, storage and recovery provider, such as DataHEALTH.
